The Kerala union of working journalists, filed a habeas corpus petition before the honourable Supreme Court seeking the release of Kappan(journalist) who was arrested by UP police while he was proceeding to report the Hathras case. In this, the senior advocate Kapil Sibal submitted that he will rely on the order in the Arnab Goswami’s case to seek release from custody.
Yesterday, the Karnataka HC termed manual scavenging as the most inhuman practice. And issued directions to ensure proper implementation of the prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act,2013. It stated, it is a violation of Article-21, if any citizen is forced to do manual scavenging.
