Kappan (journalist) was arrested on October 5 by Uttar Pradesh police while he was on his way to cover the HATHRAS rape incident. A PIL has been moved in the honourable Supreme Court seeking release of Kappan as the arrest was in total violation of guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court in DK Basu v. State of West Bengal.
In view of the pandemic, the Karnataka HC extended the life of all interim orders passed by court of law across the state till January 7,2021.
A petition was moved in Madhya Pradesh high court alleging violation of covid-19 protocols by Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and state congress president Kamal Nath at political congregations in the Gwalior-Chambal region. Now, the Gwalior bench has directed the district magistrate Of Datia and Gwalior to ensure registration of FIR against those two for breach of covid-19 protocols.

The court directed the government counsel to make submissions on the same.
