A public interest litigation has been moved by Shyama Maurya before the honourable Supreme Court of India, asking the apex court to take cognizance in the HATHRAS rape case. The petitioner demanded for an inquiry of the case under the supervision of the high court and sought directions for setting up adequate institutional mechanisms and guidelines to protect the victim and their family from grey situation.
Recently, the government of India has allowed restaurants and bars to commence their business with 50% capacity. By considering this, the Bombay HC has allowed Shree Trust Atman Kamal Labdi Surishwarji Jain Gyanmandir Trust to use their dining halls for 9 days to perform the rituals.
While hearing the Arnab Goswami bail application, the honourable Supreme Court noted that there is a need for courts across the judiciary hierarchy in India to remedy the institutional problem of bail application not being heard and disposed of with expedition. The court directed high courts, districts court to monitor pendency of bail applications.
