The Attorney General, KK Venugopal has granted consent to initiate contempt proceedings against Kunal Kamra who made a recent tweet against the Chief Justice of India. He insulted CJI by sharing a photo with 2 fingers and passed vulgar comments.
Today, the honourable Supreme Court issued contempt notice to the secretary of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for sending a letter to Arnab Goswami, for allegedly intimidating him from approaching the court against the privilege notice issued by the assembly. The court has also held that Arnab should not be arrested in the pursuance of the privilege notice issued by the assembly against him.
To control the spread of coronavirus, a plea was made in Madhya Pradesh high court, where the court directed the political parties to conduct election campaigns by virtual mode without physical gatherings. This Order was challenged in SC by BJP leader Pradyumn Singh Tomar, who alleges that this order violated the right to conduct election campaigns as permitted by ECI
