A request has been made by Advocate Sumant Sudan to the Attorney General to provide consent to initiate action for criminal contempt against Digvijay Singh. The Attorney General KK Venugopal has declined to grant consent to initiate contempt proceedings against the congress leader.
In the current situation, there exist no specified law or provision to govern the online media content. So, the central government has issued an order to bring OTT platforms and content providers under purview of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This order was signed by the Honourable president of India.
The honourable Supreme Court has decided to hear a petition suggesting setting up of a proper board, institution or association to monitor content in OTT platforms and apply censorship if needed. The Supreme Court has issued necessary notices in this regard.
