On Monday, the Bombay high court asked the Maharashtra government to consider allowing lawyers to board local trains for professional work other than court proceedings. The state was asked to take a decision preferably by today.
Kappan (journalist) was arrested on October 5 by Uttar Pradesh police while he was on his way to cover the HATHRAS rape incident. A PIL has been moved in the honourable Supreme Court seeking release of Kappan as the arrest was in total violation of guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court in DK Basu v. State of West Bengal.
Today, the Gujarat high court pronounced the sentence against YATIN OZA for criminal contempt of court and imposed a fine of Rs. 2000. However, the order has been stayed till the prescribed statutory period of appeal ends.

The petitioner demanded for an inquiry of the case under the supervision of the high court and sought directions for setting up adequate institutional mechanisms and guidelines to protect the victim and their family from grey situation.
