Job Description for Counsel, APAC
Reporting to the Managing Counsel of Salesforce’s APAC commercial legal department, the Counsel will provide support to the business in relation to customer facing contracts. This role focuses on providing support to’s Sales, Professional Services and Alliances business units as well as to the marketing department and other departments as required.
Roles & Responsibilities

  • Negotiate customer contracts in collaboration with sales and professional services teams in Asia
  • Ensure our customer contracts meet the relevant regulatory requirements imposed on us and our customers (e.g. in relation to data protection/privacy laws in Asia)
  • Negotiate partner agreements in collaboration with Alliances Counsel in US
  • Provide legal and commercial support in relation to existing contracts and provide support in the event of any disputes.
  • Work closely with Sales Operations and Revenue Recognition teams to ensure customer agreements meet internal compliance requirements
  • Assist in maintaining our precedent database and document management system ​

Requirements for the role

  • University Law degree,
  • Legal practicing certificate
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience

Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated contract negotiation and drafting expertise is essential
  • In-house experience (particularly in a sales-focused environment) is highly desirable, either as  counsel or via secondment
  • ICT industry regional (Asia) experience (either in-house or in private practice) or working within a highly regulated industry is highly desirable
  • Solid top to middle tier law firm experience
  • Excellent communicator and document drafter
  • A proven team player and collaborator – both within the legal team and as part of the deal team
  • Outstanding organisational and planning skills
  • Able to work independently in an intensive, demanding and pressured commercial environment
  • Able to keep their head when others are losing theirs
  • Customer focused both internal and external
  • Deal focused with a sense of urgency to get things done
  • Able to work quickly and accurately
  • Proven interpersonal skills – a team player
